How do we feel about Alvvays beating Taylor Swift by one spin?
Maddie: welcome to the Spinitron forum.
Everyone else: please welcome Maddie who recently took on the monumental responsibility of producing the Spinitron Chart, which we kinda unceremoniously orphaned earlier this year.
Judging from everything I’ve seen so far, Maddie is excellently well suited not only to the rigors of being a Spinitron data wrangler, I expect she’s going to find ways to improve on our methods over time. And, of course, she gets to know the new trends among the stations we cater to even sooner than the rest of you. So, a tip of the hat to Maddie. Or a Huzzah!
To your question, Maddie. First I make these observations:
- Alvvays is No 1
- Taylor Swift basically also No 1
- By a wide margin from everything else
- In the Spinitron Chart
Idk what to say about that.
Welcome, Maddie (@cowball)!! And many thanks for bringing back this feature, belated though they may be. I had missed it. I also appreciate how much work it might be, given the comparable track-based chart that I compile.
As for Taylor… it’s a bit odd to me some of the mainstream artists who make big impacts like this on noncommercial radio, even when they seem worthy. A bit of a challenge to me, to realign my sensibility from earlier decades.
