Request: station setting to turn off tagging via click

The Local, Request, New, and V/A field can each be clicked in the playlist edit form to toggle them as true/false:

While this functionalities intent is noble, we’ve found hundreds of cases over the years where DJs accidentally click one of these labels, marking a song released in the 80s as a New Release, for instance. These corrections are labor intensive.

For stations who prefer to keep their spin database as accurate as possible, an option to turn this click-to-set functionality off globally for DJs would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the consideration!

Good news, the ability to disable those fields already exists in Spinitron. Users with admin permission can navigate to Playlist forms under the Admin menu and uncheck any fields, including Local, Request, New, and V/A. DJs will no longer see the “unchecked” fields in the playlist entry form. I hope this helps.

That seems a little destructive, no?

Here is the request, clarified: Allow station admins the option to turn off the click-to-set functionality off globally for DJs without also turning off the ability to track these fields in the first place.

I wouldn’t call it destructive. More like simplifying.

But I’m not sure how what you propose would work. If the field is enabled but not available in forms, what does it do? Can you elaborate?

I’d keep these options when submitting/editing a spin:

But toggle whether DJs should be able to click these fields for previous spins to “quick-edit” aka toggle on/off whether they’re tagged.

The implementation would be turning off the click event:
